I will be traveling tomorrow, Tuesday, so I will post this recipe early. And it's good thing because this is a very tummy yummy recipe!! It is frugal but not healthy. This is my very own recipe that I made on accident. When making a flour mixture for fried veggies, you mix flour and cornmeal. Well, my kitchen is very dark and I am going blind in one eye and I thought I was mixing flour and cornmeal. When everyone started trying our yummy fried veggies (from the garden) they said, "These are awfully sweet!". But they loved it. Okay, one person said they liked the original recipe better. So, try it and I hope you like it! I bet the kids will eat their veggies! Sweet Fried Veggies ~1 c flour ~1 c powdered sugar ~1 c milk ~1 egg, beaten in with the milk ~ Chopped veggies( green tomatoes, squash, zucchini, okra, etc) ~ Oil in very hot pan, lower temp when you start cooking veggies. 1. mix the flour and sugar in a pie plate or cake pan 2. mix the egg and milk. 3. dip chopped veggies in milk, then flour. Then repeat for thicker coating. 4. drop in hot oil. turn after a few minutes until golden brown. 5. Lay on paper towels to drain excess oil.
*** If you don't want sweet and would rather have the original recipe: Substitute powdered sugar with cornmeal
