Outside Fun with Kids

Now that the weather is warmer here, the boys have been spending much more time outside. We even turned on the sprinkler on Easter! So, I started thinking about ways to keep the fun outside.

1. Sprinkler Fun~ Set up a sprinkler. Give the bowls bowls, empty plastic flower pots, buckets, etc... Let them race to see whose bowl fill up faster.

2. Water Guns~ Keep a large bucket or bowl filled with water. Let them refill their water guns in that.

3. Sandy Feet?~ Fill a tub(large enough for little feet to step in) with water. Keep by or near the back door. Have them dip their feet in the water to rinse the sand off before entering the house. * There are perfect tubs for this at the Dollar Tree.

4. Play Pools~ If you have a little play pool set up in the grass, you probably get grass in the water often. Set up a tub, like in #3, with water beside the pool. Have them dip their feet in the water before entering the pool.

5. Sports Balls~ Keep a tall hamper in your garage, and store the balls in it. Or use a shoe rack to set the balls on.

6. Pogo sticks, stilts, etc~ Store in a tall hamper

7. Baseball gloves~ Get a large basket for each child. Have them store all of their sports stuff in there. Or have one large baskets or duffle bag for the whole family's gloves. *When you go to the park, just pick up the bag full of the family's gloves.

8. Park Toys~ If you go to the park often, keep a large duffle bag or basket ready. Fill it with the park essentials like: picnic blanket, picnic basket, small cooler, kites, balls, badmitten set, football, frisbee, bag for bug spray and ointment.

9. Outside Hydration~ When the kids play outside in the heat they can become dehydrated quickly. Keep a cooler with a spout on the bottom outside filled with ice water.  Also, keep plastic cups near the water cooler. * Write their names on rubber bands to fit around the cups so their won't be confusion about whose drinking cup is whose.

10. Snack Time!!~ Kids will also get hungry often from playing hard. Keep a good stash of cut fruits and veggies, yogurt, cheeses in the fridge in a snack basket. Keep a basket of snacks in the pantry, like : granola bars, individual bags of nuts, whole grain cereals, peanut butter, crackers, etc... * When you are leaving for an afternoon in the park, put a few of these snacks in your park bag and cooler!
