Luke Bryan Concert

Posted by Holly Nelson on Saturday, July 25, 2009 Under: Family Fun
Usually we have our Family Fun Day on Saturdays, but this week we made an exception. Our local radio station, KIX 106, sponsors free concerts in the summer. It's called "Kix on Beale". We found out Luke Bryan was coming. He is one of the boys favorites. Even our little 3 year old Luke! So, we surprised the kids, "Guess where we're going tonight!!!". They were so excited. Ryan invited his friend Mathew Weakley. Who, by the way, will be a dirtbiking star when he gets older. (Google him, he's all over the place!)  We get downtown Memphis early, find a place to stand, and listen to the first singer Sara Buxton. This was our first time there. If we had known better we would've taken chairs to sit in. The little guys couldn't see unless they were on our shoulders, so they became restless after an hour. You know the usually mantra of a tired, irritated little one, "I'm tired, I'm thirsty, I'm hungry", with the loud whine. The older boys sat/stood closer to the stage, by the policemen! And we tried unsuccessfully to keep the others happy. But when Luke's Song "Country Man" came on our little Luke's eyes brightened. But by then we were already walking out of the park on our way to leave. It was not the Best Family Fun night we have ever had, but overall we all had a great time. Kids had fun, saw someone famous and saw the KIX 106 DJ's. It was time away from the everyday mundane. My hubby was able to take his mind off of work. And I was able to hold Luke for 2-3 hours getting a workout with my arms I wasn't expecting to get! And I met a lady that had 5 grown sons, and she was still sane! Hey, you always have to look at the bright side of things!

Seth, Noah, Luke, Ian, Mathew, Ryan , and Jeff at Handy Park, waiting

The future #1 dirtbiker in America!, Mathew Weakley

The boys keeping themselves busy. Seth escaped! See next picture!

He squeezed his body through the fence posts. How did he do that!?

See how packed the crowd was! It went on forever like that down Beale Street
