Happy Birthday Jesus Cake

I think when you do this with a child , it will finally resonate in their minds what Christmas is all about. When children sing "Happy Birthday", they know it's for someone's birthday. And this is for Christ's birthday! I hope this will be a tradition in your home every Christmas.

Happy Birthday Jesus Cake

chocolate cake mix
white cake mix(opt)
red and green food coloring
white icing
an angel
7 stars
12 candles 
round cake pans
baggies

1. Bake chocolate cakes (will make 2 round pans) and  freeze one for later use.
2. When mixing the white cake mix, mix one pan with red food coloring. Mix the other pan with green food coloring.
3. When cakes are baked and cooled, start with chocolate cake on bottom. Ice with white icing.

4. Add Red cake and icing, Then add the green cake. Ice the whole cake with the white icing.
5. Top with the angel and 12 candles.
** If you would like to skip the white cake mix, you can save some of the white icing. Make a red baggie and a green baggie of icing. Snip the corner and pipe holly leaves and red berries around the cake. 

What to talk about with your children:
1. Round cake: God's love is never ending , like the circle has no end.  ~John 3:16
2. Dark Cake: Sin- Before Jesus was in our hearts, we were dark with sin. ~Romans 3:23
3. White icing: When you ice the cake, talk about All the darkness is covered because Jesus' death for our sins, and He washes us white as snow. ~Romans 6:23
4. Angel: Angels brought forth great tidings to the shepherds when Jesus was born. ~Luke 2:10 (We can also spread the good news about Jesus!)
5. Star: The wise men followed the star of Bethlehem and worshiped the Lord Jesus. It reminds us how we should worship and follow Jesus' every day.(7 stars for every day of the week) Praying, reading Bible, going to church. 
6. 12 Red Candles or 12 holly berries: The blood Jesus shed for our sins.~ Romans 5:8
7. Light candles: Jesus can shine in our hearts if we ask HIm in our hearts. 12 candles for every month of the year.
8. Evergreens (piped holly leaves or green cake): We are living and growing if we accept Jesus in our hearts. How to grow- pray, go to church, read Bible, learn Bible verses, do good for others, telling others about Jesus. ~ John 15:5
