Easiest Shepherds Pie

Posted by Holly Nelson on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 Under: Tummy Yummy Recipe of the Week
My son Seth LOVES shepherds pie. He would eat it everyday. Seriously! There are many ways that I make it.
1. leftover roast, leftover veggies, leftover mashed potatoes, & brown gravy
2. ground beef with veggies from the garden.
3. ground turkey with frozen mixed veggies

Here is my simpliest way to make it:

Shepherds Pie:
~ 1 lb ground turkey
~ 2 large cans Veg-All, original style
~ 1 jar beef gravy
~ 6 large or 10 small potatoes

1. Brown the turkey, drain
2. Peel, rinse, cut, and boil potatoes. Drain then mash.
3. Mix gravy and veggies and ground turkey. Spread into 13 x 9 pan.
4. Spread mashed potatoes on top.

5. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, if desired
6. Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes

In Pictures:

Mix the veggies and gravy in a bowl. You can use fresh, frozen or leftovers, also!

Brown the meat and drain. I used ground turkey. You can also use leftover roast or ground beef.
Add to gravy and veggie mixture.

Peel, rinse, cut, boil potatoes.

Mash with hand for 30 minutes....HA!...mash or whip with the Kitchen-Aid mixer or hand mixer.
It's so much easier than by hand!

Spread veggie mixture in 13 x 9 pan.

Top with as thick layer of mashed potatoes.
I promise I think mine Had to be 2 inches thick!

Bake 375 degrees for 30 minutes. * You can also top with shredded cheddar cheese.

Then let the family dig in... after you say Grace , of course!
This is what mine looked like after the kids had about 4 helpings each.
That's growing boys for you.

(My pan is very large and thick)

Enjoy!
