Countdown to Christmas Bible verse chain

Posted by Holly Nelson on Monday, December 7, 2009 Under: Holiday Ideas
Today the kids and I are making bible verse chains. When we are done making them, they can put their own in their rooms. Sometimes we hang it as garland on their tree, around the door frame(on the inside), around the headboard, or around the dresser mirror.

Countdown to Christmas Bible Verse Chain

  Write down the words.

  Loop the loops

 All done! Put on fridge!

 What you need
:
 Desired colors of construction paper
 Marker
 Bible

What to do:
1. Mark in the Bible 1 John 4:10, Matthew 1:21, 2 Timothy 3:15, Matthew 2:1, and Colossians 1:3
2. Cut 1 1/2 inch by 8 1/2 inch strips of construction paper. (This is just an estimate, you don't have to be exact!)
3. Have your child write one or two words on the strip, starting with the first Bible verse.
4. When finished writing, glue or tape to loop the strips together. *Make sure you help them keep the words in order*
5. Everyday tear off a loop/strip, making sure not to tear the word, and glue it to a a piece of paper. Read the word together..
6. When you are done with one bible verse, start on a new piece of paper.
7. When one verse is finished use a magnet to hold it up on the refrigerator so you can talk about it daily until Christmas!
