Christmas Countdown~ GingerBread Boys

Posted by Holly Nelson on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 Under: Holiday Ideas
I read the Gingerbread Man book the other night and the boys begged to make these. So,the gingerbread village will just have to wait...again.

Gingerbread Boys:
1 package gingerbread cookie mix
icing/frosting
gingerbread cookie cutter
flour

1. Make cookies as directed.
2. Let cool then ice as desired
* Cake frosting is softer and does not decorate with fine lines

In Pictures:

Gather ingredients

Mix ingredients. It will seem dry, but will be fine.

Scrub, scour, sanitize your hands. Then form into a ball.

Roll out on to a floured surface.

I don't do well with numbers so I can't tell you whether it's 1/3 or 1/4 inch thick. Just not too thin and not too thick.

Then start cutting those guys out!

When you get tired, involve your children. you don't have to worry about child labor laws.... I hope...

Perfectionists~ Don't look! Stop worrying if the little gingerbread boy will lose and arm or leg. It' okay! I'm telling you it'll be okay! (Thanks for listening to that encouragement for me)

Oh No! Did I have him wash his hands!?

Luke's turn! Bake 350 degrees for 8-9 minutes. Let cool before icing.

My little gingerbread baking boys, Noah and Luke. (They are standing on different size chairs)

The only boys I have that will be quiet and still

Noah using the decorating gun. I had him at the word "gun".

I hope you realize I did not do these!

Yummy looking little thing. I think it looks better with icing spread all over it. What's more calories? It's Christmas!

Ryan's Creation~ kicking a soccer ball. A poor gingerbread man lost a head for that one! It's okay, Ryan ate the rest of him. Nothing wasted!

Noah's creation~ He HAD to have a pirate. and he HAD to have a stub leg. This is what he is eating for his snack at school today!

Hope you enjoyed our journey of gingerbread boy making.

Tomorrow~ Red Velvet Candy Cane Cupcakes!

 Very Yummy!
